Hickory Lakefront

Whole House Remodel - Russells Point, Ohio (Indian Lake)

This project is one of the most unique projects I’ve ever had the privilege to work on. Why?? Well, this used to be a very small, one-story cottage. We removed the entire roof, added a second floor, and restructured everything below it.

The Exterior

We really tried to keep the scale/size of this house as small as possible to fit the client’s needs and also the surroundings. Working within the fabric of the existing community is always important. This client really loves craftsman bungalows, so we made her house one!

This house is all about the details - Bronze half-round gutters, rusty red windows, and beautiful hardware.

The only space that was added to the existing house is this large screen porch which faces the lake.

First Floor Living Spaces

A lot of the first floor was just redefined, better laid out, and cosmetically updated. Since this house is so small, every inch of the space matters.

A beautiful Dutch door separates the main living space from the new Screen Porch.

Large, custom-made straps were used on the inside for the ceiling beams. I also loved this hammered hardware on the Dutch door!

The stair was one of the first things we needed to design into the layout. We wanted to make sure the whole second floor was tucked underneath the roof, so stair placement was important. We also wanted to add a bid of height in the house, too.

Brand New Second Floor

This loft serves as an additional living space, but the built-in bed also allows this space to become a guest space when guests stay over.

The Master Suite has some of the best views to the lake.
